Wincomm Remote Device Management (WRDM) software brings seamless connectivity and control to your Wincomm systems
2009-10-16
To manage Wincomm hardware remotely through Internet ? It can be done by our exclusive software WRDM.

Hsinchu, Taiwan, October 16, 2009 - After customers buy and install Wincomm's panel PC, all-in-one digital signage system or rugged player box PC, as long as these systems are connected to the intranet (LAN & WAN) and internet, our WRDM - Wincomm remote device management software can let youuse IE browser to remotely operate the WRDM serve rto access and control these systems as clients.
WRDM is a browser-based proprietary remote management software to allow user to control Wincomm's standard & customized systems anytime from anywhere.

WRDM server components
After installing WRDM to the Windows 2000/2003 or XP pro server and assign it with a static IP address, check and ensure following components are available: IIS (Internet Information Services) as web server; MSMQ (Microsoft Message Queuing) for message queue implementation; .Net Framework as a major software framework & tools library; SQL server for database management; PXE (Pre-boot Execution Environment) to boot system through network; and VNC (Virtual Network Computing) viewer as graphical desktop sharing device.

WRDM client installation
For Wincomm client systems, install the .Net Framework and VNC server and assign each system with static IP address. If the client is behind the firewall/NAT (Network Address Translation) devices, ask your network administrator to setup a port mapping between the firewall IP to the client IP.
For the client system to interact with the WRDM server, the XP/XP pro embedded image need to be packed with Wincomm's WRDM client agent and device application software interface (API), such as hardware monitoring, RTC wakeup, GPIO control, WinFlash BIOS update...etc.
For the client to register to the WRDM server, run its configuration UI, key-in the WRDM server IP address and set the "status interval" time (default is 30 seconds)...etc, the client system will report & interact with WRDM server continuously once powered on or connected.

WRDM basic management
For multi-user management, the WRDM server administrator can set users into different role, group and department with corresponding authority & functions.
After the client register to the server, its basic information will be stored within the server. Administrator an set the client systems into different group and department for efficient group management.
If a display is customized and connected to Wincomm's system, user can establish the display's basic information and control the display through the client system. Administrator also can set the display clients into different group and department for efficient group management.

WRDM's control to the client system & client display
WRDM provides many control functions for administrator to remotely manage the client systems and displays.
● Power off the system; reboot the system; power on the system through wake-on-LAN (within LAN environment); power on the system through RTC wakeup. These controls can be executed to a single system and to a group systems.
● Screen graphical presentation of the system (with different size and refresh time); use mouse and keyboard to remotely operate the system.
● Monitor of system's thermal temperature and fan speed with actual measurement data shown.
● Monitor of system's GPIO status and make necessary change to both single system and group systems.
● Update system's BIOS.
● Upgrade system's XP/XP pro embedded image.
● Power on/off the display; adjust the brightness, contrast, volume, input source of the display. These controls can be executed to both single system and group systems.

All controls can be executed, stopped, monitored by the administrator on-line; all controls can be executed through WRDM GUI, or defined as single event or group events command for immediate or scheduled / periodical execution; and there is events log as records for all executed controls.
All Wincomm's existing WMS42~55, WMP, WTP, WPE-793 standard systems and other customized systems can support WRDM server.

Summary
With WRDM, through the server/client architecture and internet/WAN/LAN connections, user can remotely access and control their Wincomm systems anytime from anywhere. No matter it is for monitoring purpose, for operating requirements, for upgrade necessity, for overall control & management, WRDM will allow our user to best utilize Wincomm’s systems with full control, lowest maintenance cost and highest productivity.
