As WMS-42Plus2 is not a mobile device and normally it is installed at a fixed site, often LAN (wired or wireless) is the major connection for accessing server and Internet. But for some environments when LAN is not available, cellular telecommunication based wireless WAN provides the necessary solution.

3.5G module in PCI express mini slot

Wincomm verifies a 3.5G WWAN module with only 51x30x10 mm (W x D x H) dimension, it can be easily slid into the WMS-42Plus2’s PCI express mini card slot. Along with an external antenna and modem operation, user can connect to the cellular network service provider for Internet & VPN access.

This WWAN module can support latest 3.5G mobile communications –
1. The WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, FDD 850/1900/2100 MHz ) with modem operation of 2 Mbps uplink (HSUPA, High Speed Uplink Packet Access, a 3G mobile telephony protocol) and 7.2 Mbps downlink (HSDPA, High Speed Downlink Packet Access, a 3.5G/3G+ mobile telephony protocol) to generate higher data transfer speed and capacity.
2. The EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution, also known as EGPRS / Enhanced General Packet Radio Service, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) is an extension of the 2G GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) to handle four times as much traffic as standard GPRS. .

IR Dual Touch
Beside as an informative signage system, Wincomm integrates the WMS-42Plus2 with IR (Infrared) dual touch panel for interactive signage applications.

IR dual touch panel uses an array of infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on two adjacent bezel edge, with photo-sensors placed on the two opposite side bezel edges to detect & locate a touch-point coordinate. For a 42” IR touch panel, the number of optical element is 156 x 88 and can detect stylus input as small as 6 mm.

IR touch is especially suitable for large size touch application as the per inch cost is optimized. The sensor digital output secure high accuracy and periodical re-calibration is almost not required. IR touch does not use glass or plastic overlay thus won’t reduce the display quality. To protect LCD, Wincomm can provide tempered glass or vandal-resistant glass for special harsh application.
