Hsinchu, Taiwan, September 30, 2009 – Following its 32”, 42”, 47”, and 52” All-in-One digital signage systems, Wincomm introduces the WMS-55PLUS2 to bring the 55” LCD and signage player integrated, All-in-One system for a wide range of digital promotions environments, including: airports and stations, hospitality and entertainment, retails and shop floors, malls and department stores, universities narrowcaster and corporate.

120Hz MEMC & 10-bit color LCD
WMS-55PLUS2 is equipped with Full HD 1920x1080 native resolution LCD panel. The large size 55” (54.6” diagonal) LCD panel, with near 70% more viewing area than the 42” mainstream, can easily catch mass crowds’ immediate attention. To avoid video judder and blur found on large size screens, this 55” panel incorporates the latest 120Hz frame rate video processing and the MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) technology to deliver a motion artifacts/lag free high quality image. The 10-bit level RGB pixel can display more than 1G vivid color than the traditional 8-bit 16.7M color panel. On top of the LCD panel, Wincomm adds the protection glass (AR or clear type) and optional IR touch panel (single touch and dual touch) for special interactive signage applications.

For  the system to be fully convenient for upgrade, expansion and service, WMS55-PLUS2 also adapts Wincomm’s patented swappable module design. System main board is mounted on a drawer like base bracket and can be withdrawn from a compartment, complex and time consuming rear cover disassembling is not required. To further enhance the system stability and reliability, Wincomm invents the separate heat dissipation design for the computing main board, display scaler board, and power board. Together with smart fan control thermal management, the system can operate with low acoustic noise.

The Core 2 Duo computing & expansions
In order to run the media rich signage contents smoothly, Wincomm powers the WMS-55PLUS2 with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz processor along with Intel Q965 graphic memory controller hub (with integrated graphic media accelerator 3000) and ICH8 I/O controller hub. The system FSB is up to 1.066GHz, supports dual channel DDRII 4GB memory and one SATA interface for HDD. The expansion/upgrade is flexible with mini PCI-e and two PCI-e slots for optional add-ons such as graphics-enhanced video card, wireless LAN card for 802.11 a/b/g 5GHz connections, and universal analog TV / FM tuner / AV capture card. Further customization is available such as to add a slot-in type USB 2.0 DVD-RW drive for field contents playback convenience.

For user to operate this bulky system (the no-stand system alone is 134cm wide, 81cm height, 15cm depth and the weight is over 50kg), an IR remote control is available for power on/off and display settings. Installer can choose to use the tabletop stand or Wincomm’s optional wall mount bracket with VESA standard 200x200mm mounting interface. For multimedia audio effects, optional 2-chanell 5W+5W speaker kit is available for both landscape and portrait configuration. For more diversified environments, users can mount an external 1.3MP USB2.0 camera module for video communications; for pay-per-use application, a magnetic stripe card reader side-mount kit is available; and there are protection covers to secure the side & bottom cable connections.

The software package
Besides the hardware plug-and-play convenience, for software package, Wincomm provides XP and XP pro embedded image which can co-work with our remote device management software – WRDM to allow user to monitor and control the system from remote server through Internet connections. And to further enhance system reliability & safe-guarded usage, the embedded image also include our application software and firmware of watchdog timer, RTC wake-up, wake on LAN, and power-on after power failure.
