Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, April 19, 2010 – Wincomm has produced the WLP series industrial panel PC for more than five years and all the products are designed with rugged metal enclosure with fanless mechanism to provide quiet and reliable operation for rigid applications such as public information Kiosk, point of information terminal, factory human machine interface control console, and embedded in-wall-box touch station.
Our latest effort is to integrate the 10.4” and 15” fanless industrial panel PC with Intel Atom processor.
Fanless design with Intel Atom processor
To support the fanless operation for up to 40°C ambient temperature, we need to design the product with the combination of power-optimized computing platform and very effective heat dissipation mechanism.
Wincomm chooses to adopt Intel’s latest ultra low voltage Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor and Mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset with only 9 watts thermal design power (TDP). The Atom N270 is implemented with 45nm process technology and Core-based micro-architecture as a power-optimized processor to deliver robust performance-per-watt.
For heat dissipation design, besides the rear cover all-round ventilation holes, internal head sinks are built for processor, chipset & memory and are extended for a direct thermal contact to an external fin-like aluminum rear cover/plate for best cooling result.
The 10.4” and 15” products
The small form-factor WLP-7820-10A is integrated with a 10.4” 800x600 230 nits LCD with an optional unique detachable LCD & touch design. For those applications with very limited installation space, the installer can build only the LCD & touch panel at the usage site and locate the system at a remote site, in-between the LCD/touch and the main system, Wincomm provides a special 5 meters cables for signal connections.

The larger WLP-7820-15A is integrated with a 15” 1024x768 300 nits LCD with an optional dedicated in-wall-box case to accommodate an open frame WLP-7820-15A.
The in-wall-box case is made of SECC metal with tailored mounting holes, cables routing holes, and a compartment for power adaptor fixing. The power on/off switch is located on the front lower right side, an aluminum frame can be snapped in as a front bezel for decoration and protection purpose.

Besides above special-usage design, below are other main features for both products --
l 5-wire resistive touch panel w/ typical 80% light transmittance.
l One SODIMM socket for up to 2 GB DDR2-533 system memory.
l One SATA 2.5” HDD drive bay w/ anti-vibration mechanism.
l One Compact Flash card slot.
l One Mini PCI Express socket. (mainly for wireless LAN module)
l External universal 60 W power supply w/ 12V DC output.
Summary
Fanless design and Intel Atom processor are the core for Wincomm’s latest 10.4” & 15” industrial panel PC, with the detachable LCD/touch panel and in-wall-box special design, both products can fulfill more harsh & versatile applications.
