WPE-793 w/ dual-port l Gigabit Ethernet LOM
Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 6th, 2009 - Wincomm outfits its Core 2 Duo rugged PC engine box WPE -793 with dual-port Gigabit Ethernet by building into the LOM (LAN On Motherboard) of two LAN controllers. This allows users to implement the simultaneous network connection for their specific application needs.

For bandwidth-intensive users, instead of adapting to the emerging 10G Ethernet new tools / installations, this dual-port Gigabit can be a cost-effective alternative. While the 10G Ethernet network interface card does offer straightforward wider bandwidth, but its total overall cost can be quite high, include the NIC itself, the associated fiber cabling and equivalent switch (10G Base-LX) all add up total implementation costs. Thus this dual-port Ethernet system can be a candidate for budget limit users.

While still serving as a client PC, the dual-port Ethernet WPE-793 can fulfill more diversified usage than traditional singe-port Ethernet PC. When connected to the single server/network, the 2nd Ethernet port can work as a back-up connection for those mission critical applications. Or for the multiple network/server environment (such as the VMWare virtualization server), the dual-port Ethernet w/ physical MAC and IP addresses will allow the WPE-793 to receive dual data streams of their owned connected server or network in parallel. This can be very helpful for digital signage applications which need different sources of data and can be managed simultaneously with single system without facing the bandwidth constraints and allow built-in contents management software to do on-site and real time contents integration.

Also for some very small scale digital signage network environment, with this dual-port Gigabit Ethernet capability, the WPE-793 can also be used as server PC.

Besides the benefit of cost-saving alternative to the 10G Ethernet and the diversified applications for connection back-up, multiple data accessing and small network server applications, this dual-port Gigabit Ethernet also supports mainstream network adaptor features –

  ● 10/100/1000 IEEE 802.3 compliant
  ● Comprehensive software driver suite for all desktop operation systems
  ● Optimized for maximum throughput and low CPU utilization to improve overall system performance
  ● Supports integrated ASF 2.0 functionality and PXE 2.1 remote boot for easy remote system management
  ● Incorporate ACPI 2.0 compliant advanced power management for energy efficient operation
  ● Suited for client application w/ wake on LAN and smart power down features

With Wincomm’s dual-port Ethernet hardware ready for both cost effective and application flexibility, all the SI/VAR need to do is to identify the real application usage details and select the necessary network and/or application software to bundle with our WPE-793 system to provide a satisfied solution for the end users.
